Retroactive Extraction is a powerful feature offered by Receiptor AI that allows users to process and extract financial documents from their past emails.

This functionality is particularly useful for businesses and individuals who need to catch up on their bookkeeping or prepare for tax season by retrieving historical financial data.

Try before you buy

Receiptor AI offers a free trial of their retroactive extraction feature. For example, they might invite users to extract up to 50 documents from the last month at no cost. This allows you to experience how Receiptor AI can enhance your document management process before committing to a paid service.

How does it work?

  1. Go to the "Retroactive" section in Receiptor AI.

  2. Select an email account — Choose the email account you want to extract documents from. Receiptor AI supports all email providers: Google accounts, Microsoft accounts, and all others via IMAP.

  3. Choose document types (optional) — Specify which types of documents you want to extract. Options typically include:

    • Invoices

    • Receipts

  4. Choose email parts to analyze (optional) — Select which parts of the email Receiptor AI should examine:

    • Body (default): The main content of the email

    • PDF (default): Any PDF attachments

    • Images: (coming soon) Ability to analyze image attachments

  5. Apply filters to senders (optional) — You can choose to:

    • Only analyze emails from specific allowed senders or domains

    • Exclude email addresses or domains from being analyzed

  6. Select a date range — Set a specific time frame for the extraction, allowing you to focus on a particular financial period (e.g., last financial year).

  7. Payment and pricing — The cost is typically calculated based on the number of emails to be analyzed.

After the extraction

Once you start a retroactive extraction, you'll see it appearing in the history of your extractions, including:

  • The timeframe of the extraction

  • The email account processed

  • The number of messages analyzed

  • The number of invoices and receipts found

  • The total number of documents extracted

  • The status of the extraction (e.g., completed)

You can then export the extracted data in various formats (such as CSV or PDF) for further use in your accounting processes or integration with other financial software:
